February 27th to March 1st / March 6th to March 8th
Nero Norcia – “Norcia Black” in English – is the most important agrifood exhibition in the Umbria region, making Norcia the leading player in the last two weekends of February, and is a tradition dating back to the 1950s.
“Nero Norcia”, the exhibition-cum-market of the prized truffle and of characteristic products, acquaints the public with genuine local flavours and expertise, while also making it possible to discover the gastronomic excellence of other Italian regions.
A preferential stage from which to describe the various areas as real mines of mouth-watering food and of culture. Combining continuity and innovation, the famous event dedicated to “King Truffle” also features an extensive leisure and folkloristic programme, plus a wealth of conferences and meetings.
There will be meetings and tastings of the prized culinary “black diamond”. The “Norcinerie”, the specialties stemming from the ancient local methods of processing pig meat, will also be in the forefront of the event.
There will be no lack of collateral events either, i.e. art and photographic exhibitions, theatrical shows, and live demonstrate of some local arts – cheese-making, processing of pig meat, and even the making of wrought-iron products.
Other initiatives planned include gastronomic twinning with various Italian locations, also with the aim of highlighting the characteristic features and qualities of products, and exhibitions at Palazzo della Castellina.
